赵州桥建成已距今1400年，经历了10次水灾，8次战乱和多次地震，特别是1966年邢台发生的7.6级地震，邢台距这里有40多千米，这里也有四点几级地震，赵州桥都没有被破坏，著名桥梁专家茅以升说，先不管桥的内部结构，仅就它能够存在1300多年就说明了一切。1963年的水灾大水淹到桥拱的龙嘴处，据当地的老人说，站在桥上都能感觉桥身很大的晃动。据记载，赵州桥自建成至今共修缮9次。
